OUR STORY

How We Started
Being Meticulous

Birth of a Business

The Meticulous Maid was born during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and officially founded in May of 2021 by Liz Milam.

Before entering the cleaning industry, Liz built her career in hospitality. She earned a degree in Restaurant & Catering Management from The Art Institute of Dallas and trained in James Beard Award-winning restaurants while earning her Sommelier certification through The Court of Master Sommeliers. Those experiences instilled an unwavering attention to detail, a passion for exceptional service, and the belief that the smallest details create the greatest impact.

When COVID-19 brought the hospitality industry to a standstill, Liz found herself at a crossroads. What began as cleaning homes to support her family quickly became something much greater. She discovered that a clean home wasn't just about appearance, it reduced stress, improved mental well-being, and gave people back the time and peace to focus on what mattered most.

That realization became the foundation of The Meticulous Maid.

Mental Health Has Always Mattered

From the beginning, our mission has been about more than cleaning. We exist to restore peace of mind, reduce overwhelm, and create healthy, welcoming spaces where families and businesses can thrive. That people-first, mental wellness-focused philosophy continues to guide everything we do.

As the company grew, so did its reputation. Through an unwavering commitment to quality, professionalism, and exceptional customer care, The Meticulous Maid has become a federally trademarked, award-winning cleaning company trusted by thousands of homeowners and businesses throughout North Georgia. What started as residential cleaning has expanded to include commercial cleaning, post-construction services, organization and home resets, concierge services, vacation rental turnovers, and specialty cleaning solutions tailored to our clients' evolving needs.

The Current Chapter Of Our Story

In February 2025, The Meticulous Maid entered its next chapter when Dan Dollevoet joined the company as a business partner and Chief Financial Officer. Holding an MBA from Georgia State University and bringing extensive experience in finance, operations, and strategic planning, Dan has helped strengthen the company's infrastructure and build a foundation for sustainable growth.

Today, Liz and Dan combine their expertise in hospitality, operations, and business strategy to lead a team committed to exceptional service, meticulous quality, and genuine care. While the company has grown tremendously since 2021, its mission remains the same: to improve lives by creating spaces that bring comfort, peace, and confidence to every client we serve.

GIVING BACK

A Clean, Safe Home is Life-Changing

Giving back is part of who we are. We believe a clean, safe home can change someone's life, especially during times of illness, mental health challenges, or overwhelming life circumstances. That's why we regularly donate cleanings to individuals and families who need them most. Know someone who could benefit from a FREE cleaning? We'd love to hear their story. Submit a hardship request.

Committed to Our Community

When we aren't cleaning, we're giving back. Whether we're volunteering our time, sponsoring local events, or raising funds, our commitment extends far beyond the homes and businesses we serve. We're proud to support organizations and community initiatives including Never Alone Food Pantry, Miracle League, Kiwanis International, The Butterfly Whisperer, 2 Polarities, local schools, first responders, and families displaced by unexpected disasters.

These moments are just a small glimpse of the partnerships, people, and causes that have shaped our journey. We're grateful to be part of a community that continually shows up for one another, and we're honored to do the same.
